After yesterday's debacle of a drive home from KC, I decided it would be best to not run this morning. I just knew that it wouldn't go well and that I needed sleep more than I needed to exercise. The 8 1/2 hour trip took 12 hours due to issues with our vehicle, and 3/4ths of that was stressed-out driving. I was going to run tomorrow morning and then Thursday as well, but today the temperature wasn't too bad because of all the cloud cover. Which means, of course, that when I headed out the door the sun started shining.
I went 6 miles and, due to the heat being in the high 90s along with the sun and humidity, walked every half-mile once I got to the two-mile mark. That worked out just fine and I was able to complete the outing without incident. My calves felt tight but I attribute that to yesterday's stress more than anything else. Now I can get back on schedule for morning runs.
