When I returned home from today's run at about 6:15 p.m. the weather app read 101 degrees. There's no way it was that hot. The humidity was way down, which was surprising after yesterday's rain episodes. The reason I say the thermometer was wrong is because this was the least I've sweat on a run in a few months. I know what you're thinking - when you overheat you stop sweating and that's a bad sign. Well that's not the case here. I walked at every mile marker, and I know what it feels like to overheat. This was not one of those days. Maybe it was just the lower humidity and a run that was half in the shade.
My GPS also malfunctioned somewhat, which has happened before. At a little over 8 minutes into the run my watch beeped that I'd finished the first mile, and I was still at least two-tenths away from the actual marker. I've run this route enough to know where that is. Plus, I wasn't running an 8-minute mile. I recharged the GPS yesterday, so I need to see if that's the pattern when this happens. To compensate I ran to the markers I know for the whole 6 miles and walked at each mile. For a hot day it was actually a good run, thermometer and GPS notwithstanding.
