After the Debacle

After Saturday's debacle I was a little timid going into today's run. Everything worked out okay, though, and I did 4.5 miles, including an 18-minute tempo run. The run was good, and order has been restored.

I took both Sunday and yesterday off, which is the first time in over six weeks that I've been idle two days in a row. I think my body needed the rest as well as my mind, and that extra day has been well received on both fronts.

Also today I ran into a 62-year old lady who went to a church we used to attend, and she told me how she's run a marathon and three half-marathons in the past year. She's hoping to qualify for Boston next year, and based on how she keeps winning her age division and ran a half in 2:03, I'd say she has a pretty good chance of making it. That little talk was just as inspiring as getting back on the road!
